Antonio Donato was born in Messina, Sicily, and raised in Genoa in Northern Italy. At a young age he returned to Sicily and started his apprenticeship in woodworking with Mr. Lentini, who was also a part time violin maker and restorer on all bowed instruments. For years Antonio dedicated his time and craftsmanship to restorations and then to the art of violin and viola making.

In order to share his love of music with others, in 1990, Antonio Donato founded the Donato Music Establishment, which today continues to successfully provide quality Violins, Violas, Violoncellos and Upright Basses for serious students to highly trained professionals. You can enjoy a large selection of rare and modern string instruments and bows in various price ranges. Professional restoration on all bowed instruments is always available. For years, several professionals have been playing Antonio's hand crafted instruments.

Antonio is well known in the Art of Luthiery and is a long time member of The Violin Society of America where he participates at the International Competition of Violin and Viola Making. He is also an active member of The Violin Makers Association of Arizona International (VMAAI). On October 2007, he won two First Place Gold Plaques for his viola, one Gold Plaque for his violin, plus several other certificates and diplomas. In 2010, Antonio won 5 Gold Medals and a certificate for 2 Violas and 2 Violins. In September 2014, he was a awarded a Certificate of Merit for Viola at the Violin Society of America's 21st International Competition and Exhibition in Indianapolis, Indiana.
